Sido FACES

These faces are like snapshots. Sculptural snapshots. I like them to question the subjectivity of time, like an intimate space in our life. Their eyes are open or closed, depending on their state of consciousness. Matte and shiny emphasize certain aspects of their intimacy.

I try to breathe life into them, notably through the particular care I take in representing human skin in paint. This organic, almost intimate aspect appeals to me. I call this technique dreamlike realism.

They come in series. RED or BLUE, etc. Like ephemeral, frozen images of oneself. I play freely with colors. These colors are related to emotions and the elements. Fire, water, earth, air.
